What Is the Flash Technique?
Flash Technique is a gentle, neuroscience-informed approach that helps reduce the emotional intensity of painful memories without requiring you to fully relive or describe the experience in detail. Rather than focusing directly on the memory, you keep it in the background while engaging with something positive or neutral, allowing the memory to become less distressing and more manageable.
With guidance from your therapist, brief “flash” sets allow the memory to be processed while keeping direct exposure to the distressing material minimal. Over time, the memory may begin to feel less intense, vivid, or emotionally charged.
Flash Technique can be used on its own for specific memories or triggers, or as a supportive tool within deeper trauma therapy.

Who Can Benefit from the Flash Technique?
Flash Technique may be helpful if you have painful memories or experiences that still trigger strong emotional reactions, particularly if talking about them directly feels overwhelming.
It may be useful for trauma, grief and loss, anxiety or panic connected to specific experiences, shame or guilt, and distressing memories you tend to avoid.
